Valentine’s Day Footprint Craft

February 1, 2016 by Taylor 1 Comment

This post was sponsored by FLYJOY part of a fun new Microadventure series I am participating in but all opinions are my own.  Valentine's Day Footprint Craft

Today’s post is a little different than my usual recipe.  That’s right – no new recipe today, but I do have a fun craft idea.  Not into crafts?  Come back Wednesday.  Looking for a kid’s Valentine’s Day craft?  You’re in the right place!  Today we’re making a Valentine’s Day Footprint Craft!

So why am I straying from my usual recipe posting format?  For one, I’ve been wanting to incorporate some more family posts into g&c to share more life with Lars.  To give me the kick in the rear and inspiration I needed to do this, I’ve teamed up with FLYJOY.  I’ll be posting about different microadventures in which we get out and do fun things.

This month’s microadventure was to create or appreciate art.  I have a growing list of art projects that I want to do with Lars. This was the perfect opportunity to get me to actually do one of them!

How To Make Valentine’s Day Footprint Craft

A footprint art project seemed like the cutest yet easiest route to go. Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, so I decided to recreate this idea from Pinterest.  I called up my sister-in-law to see if she wanted to spend an afternoon making Valentines with our boys.  She was all for it!

We made two versions of the Valentine’s cards – one was an open-faced heart and the other was inside of a card.  We used some fun stamps and paper that my sister-in-law had from scrapbooking. I think they turned out super cute!

Stamp Pad or Paint?

One lesson we learned from making a Thanksgiving footprint craft is that paint is messy and a stamp pad is much easier.  Not only is it less messy but it also creates a way cuter and more detailed footprint.

Of course, as moms of boys we have to be sure to keep ourselves fueled through out the day to chase them around.  We made some hot cocoa with Rum Chata (um, YUM!) and I also love having energy bars to grab quick for a mid-afternoon snack.  This is where FLYJOY Quinoa Bars come in.

What I love about FLYJOY Bars is the minimal ingredients used to make them and I can pronounce ALL of them!  The bars are made from a combination of quinoa, chia seeds, flaxseed, oats, and nut butter.  Then depending on the flavor there are add-ins like unsweetened coconut, cranberries, dried blueberries, and cacao nibs.  Along with that the bars are non-GMO, gluten-free, soy-free, vegan, and Kosher D certified. They taste great, too.  I absolutely love them!

Those cards are so sweet! I love that idea! The FLYJOY bars sound delicious too. It’s always good to have a premade snack that’s made with healthy wholesome ingredients on hand. 🙂
