Trends This Winter: Featuring a Unique Wooden Watches by JORD
Last year I started a series on my blog called Life Detox, and never fully finished it. Admittedly, I didn’t start this series at the best time, as the first and introduction post was posted less than two weeks before Soren was born.
I managed to really integrate a few of the areas into my life, like creating a modified capsule kitchen and cleaning up my beauty routine with safer products, but let’s be honest – trying to make life changes while having a newborn was not the best idea.
And then we moved. Sure – we got rid of a ton of stuff in the process. But honestly, I’m still trying to figure out how to best organize our new house. Work. In. Progress.
One thing I KNOW that I could do better at organizing is my closet. Enter: a capsule wardrobe.
What is a capsule wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe is essentially cutting your wardrobe down to the bare minimum, and living off of that for a season. I’ve seen a range as far as how many items can be included in a capsule wardrobe, but I’m going with 29. This includes tops, bottoms, accessories, and shoes. This doesn’t include sleepwear, underwear, or workout clothes.
What are the benefits of a capsule wardrobe?
So I’m guessing a few of you are wondering, WHY would anyone do this? Let me offer a few reasons.
Less choices – less decision fatigue. A capsule wardrobe reduces the options to choose from (obviously), making getting ready *that* much easier. I often feel paralyzed at making a choice because I have too many options. Less options – easier decision making.
Second, you can focus on quality of clothes and not quantity. As much as I love a good deal at Old Navy, deep down I know I probably don’t need another black sweater or classic white tee. And if I decide that I do, then I need to get rid of something that I’m not wearing regularly. One in, one out.
To make your closet more visually appealing. I can’t be the only one who walks into my closet and cringes every time because of the clutter…right?! It’s disorganized, bursting at the seams, and it just stresses me out. That said, now that my capsule wardrobe is done, I’m going to Marie Kondo my closet and organizing the shelves and drawers ASAP.

I actually feel like it seems like a lot of clothes. Even though my closet rod was packed before this, the clothes that I kept are the ones that I actually wear. The ones I took out of my closet are ones that I just didn’t wear very often. When it comes down to it, this is kind of the point of the entire capsule wardrobe. Less options because we truly want less choices to make.
When it comes to jewelry, you may have noticed that I am definitely a minimalist. I have one necklace that Marc gave to me on our wedding day (my E necklace), which I wear every day, and if I’m feeling fancy I throw on a pair of earrings. That’s about it, folks.
I included both my Apple watch, which I use to track my activity, and my JORD Watch, which they sent me to review. Since I don’t wear many accessories, it’s fun to have the ones I do wear stand out. My wood JORD watch is definitely eye catching!
I love that my JORD Watch is timeless and can be dressed up or down. For example, I can wear it with my sweatshirt dress (um, the best kind of dress!) or a cute blouse if I’m going out. It goes with anything!
It’s also great for all seasons. It’s part of my winter capsule wardrobe and will definitely be part of my spring, summer, and fall capsule wardrobes as well!
