My mom came to visit this weekend, which we made sure to fill with lots of girl activities like shopping, pedicures, good food, wine, and yoga. After a particularly sweaty 75 minute yoga sculpt class on Sunday morning, we stopped at Caribou for some coffee and breakfast snacks. While I was planning to stick to my usual cold pressed coffee, I noticed a sign on the front door advertising their sparkling tea beverages. The sparkling green tea lemonade was calling my name so I changed my game plan and decided to try it. When I returned to the car with our orders where my mom was waiting, I mentioned to her that I got sparkling green tea lemonade along with her iced coffee. At some point there was a misunderstanding and before I knew it, my mom was polishing off my sparkling green tea lemonade. We had a good laugh about it and then she promised me buy me another one.
I never did get my second sparkling green tea lemonade from Caribou (ahem), so I decided to make it myself. Seems easy enough, right?? Well, let’s just say that never again will I pay almost $4 for tea and lemonade! I’ve been keeping a pitcher of chilled green tea in my refrigerator all summer now, so this was really easy for me to put together. If you don’t have iced tea ready to be used, I included my recipe for making iced green tea, which makes the perfect amount for this greek tea lemonade.
Once the green tea is made, you simply add sugar, lemon juice, and sparkling water and voila: sparkling green tea lemonade! It was a great evening refreshment that I sipped while cooking dinner, but would be delicious sipped on a hot afternoon sitting on the deck, too. I also think it would be a wonderful addition to any brunch!
