Lars Leonard entered the world on Monday June 29 at 11:35 a.m. and life could not be any better right now. It’s been an exhausting 6 days, but it’s the most incredible thing to be his mom and it’s hard to imagine life without him now.
We learn so much about him every hour we spend with him, and so far we know that he loves cuddling, eating, skin-to-skin time, and sleeping on our chests, and he does not like sleeping in his crib, diaper changes, outfit changes, or getting his vitals taken by the nurses.
Oh, and as predicted, watching Marc be a dad is pretty much the best thing ever. Lars has him wrapped around his finger already and I’d be lying if I said I haven’t burst into tears more than a few times in the past six days just thinking about how much I love the two of them. Post-pregnancy hormones are just as bad as pregnancy hormones, FYI.
I’m predicting things might be a little slow around here over the next few weeks (how a creature that sleeps 20 hours a day can keep us so busy is beyond me) but don’t worry! Things will get back to their normal pace soon enough. Plus, shouldn’t we all be soaking up the summer sunshine (and baby cuddles) instead of sitting around our computers? The answer is yes.
Last thing, I plan on starting a “Family” section on the blog where I post updates on Lars, thoughts on motherhood, and the like. While this blog has mainly been a space for me to share my love of food (and will continue to be so!) I can already tell I love writing about being a mom and our life with Lars, and since I love reading other moms experiences, I hope to share mine too.
Hope you had a great 4th!
