baby e pregnancy update: week 16

January 11, 2015 by Taylor 13 Comments

16 week bump

Just popping in today for a Baby E update!  I’ve decided to do them every other week and will likely be posting them on Saturday or Sunday.  Also – if you want more updates, be sure to follow Baby Ellingson on Instagram!

How far along are you? 16 weeks, 1 day

Cravings: Hot sauce and burgers.  All. The. Time.

Food Aversions:  Nothing has been TOO repulsive but I have noticed after I’ve eaten certain things (particularly an apple and a Jimmy John’s sandwich) I have felt like I never want to see one ever again.  Weird.

Weight Gain:  I had a doctor appointment this week and am up 9 pounds.

Fears: Still – the flu.  I swear some of my patients use no common sense and come into the clinic sick as dogs.  Who wants to do physical therapy when they’re sick?!  Stay home, people!  Okay, my rant is over.

Generally Feeling: Great!  I have had some increasing low back and hip pain this week, which has made it uncomfortable to drive, sit through a movie, or sit on a hard surface.  I’m also waking up quite a bit at night to switch sides because my hips will start aching if I’m on one side too much.  Other than that, I’ve been keeping up with my regular exercise routine, which is nice!

Looking Forward To:  Feeling the baby kick!  We were at a movie yesterday and I *swear* I felt a little flutter in my stomach, but I’m excited for an actual kick.

Miss anything: Wine.  Oh man, do I miss wine.

Movement: Felt the first flutter yesterday!.

What I’ve Been Loving: Seeing my belly grow.  I can even tell a difference between this weeks bump picture and last weeks.  So fun!

Maternity Clothes:  Yep.  I actually tried wearing a normal pair of pants to work this week and as soon as I pulled them up I knew it wasn’t happening.  Luckily I have a few pairs of pants from coworkers and a pair that I bought to fall back on, but I reallllly need to go shopping.

Boy or Girl:  Will tell soon! 😉

Have a great Sunday!  Leaving you off with a few of Baby E’s new friends:

Sounds like you’re doing awesome! Yay for first flutters! I felt the first real definitive kick the day I was 17 weeks along and then they were nonstop!!! You’ll feel one very soon! It’s so amazing and pretty soon they’ll be keeping you up at night 🙂 Oy – hip pain. I feel ya and have had the same problem. No fun. Hang in there!

    So very exciting!! 🙂

I remember the first definite kicks – for me it was at about week 20 on a train through Europe! Your latest post led me to reminisce about this! 😉

All the best Taylor (and later on I can’t wait to hear whether it is a boy or girl!)

You look wonderful! And I feel your pain – I was working at the hospital full time when I was pregnant with my daughter. I was terrified of either a) catching something or b) lifting too much. Can’t wait to follow along with the rest of your pregnancy!

Thanks Rachel! And yes – between stretching people, lifting people, and touching 15+ patients a day, it’ll be a miracle if I don’t catch something!

Yay!! I can’t wait to hear if it’s a boy or girl 🙂

And oh my gosh, I’m paranoid I’m going to get sick and I am not around anywhere near as many people a day as you are!! haha

YAY!! I’m so happy for you, Taylor!! I tried to comment on your announcement post last week and it kept saying page not available or something but hey, CONGRATS! I’m excited to read your updates and am glad to hear everything is going well.

And don’t even get me started about sick patients. I have to ask some of my patients to take deep breaths frequently while I’m scanning and when they exhale they blow their breath right in my face! So rude. Some people are just clueless!
