Let me ask you a question. What do you do when the craving for cookies strikes? Do you drive to the store to snatch up a few boxes? Or do you immediately know what kind you want and get to work in the kitchen? Perhaps you make the cookie dough only for the purpose of eating the dough. Or maybe you’re one of those amazing prepared-for-anything people that has an entire bakery ready to be defrosted in your freezer.
My answer to the question is a little more complicated. I’m one of those people who needs to know exactly what I want before I commit to making it. So when I first get that cookie craving, I try to figure out exactly what kind of cookie I’m craving. Do I want straight-up chocolate chip, or do I want to do something crazy like put some chopped up candy bars or nuts in them? Or maybe I want something a bit heartier like an oatmeal butterscotch cookie? Oooh or how about a sandwich cookie?
By the time I figure out what I’m craving, I’m usually too exhausted to make the cookies I figure out that I’m craving. I’ve wasted so much time figuring out what kind of cookie to make that I don’t have the time to make the cookie!
These are the times when pre-made cookie dough saves my life. Or maybe it saves me from a cookie craving induced meltdown. Same thing, right?
Maybe you’ve had times like these, too. It’s okay, you don’t have to admit it. Sometimes, however, just the plain cookie dough is not going to cut it. You already decided you want lots of things jammed into your cookies! I feel your pain.
