Baby E Update: 34 Weeks

I started writing this update a couple of weeks ago when I was 32 weeks along and things kept getting in the way and I wasn't able to get a good bump picture or finish the update!  So this update is pretty much what's been happening for the past four weeks.  Just a few more weeks and we're in the home stretch!

How far along are you? 34 weeks.

Cravings:  Sour gummy candy, macaroni and cheese from the box, and I've had a resurgence of hot sauce cravings!  Especially on macaroni and cheese and brussels sprouts.  Thai and Chinese food have been sounding phenomenal to me but I haven't been able to satisfy that craving yet.  Hopefully soon.  I've also been super thirsty lately which probably has something to do with having to pee every 30 minutes.

Food Aversions:  Nope.

Generally Feeling:  I would say overall I feel great but I am super tired.  Getting through a day at work has been a struggle and at home when I've been trying to work in the kitchen or clean the house I've had to take a lot more breaks than I have in the past.  I've also been feeling really out of breath with simple daily tasks like picking up clothes or walking up stairs.

Still, I've been trying to stay regular with exercise 4-5 times/week.  I told myself if something starts to be painful, I will stop it, and so far nothing has caused me pain.   So I'm running 2-4 miles a couple of times a week, doing yoga, spinning, Body Pump, and the occasional barre class.  We also put sod down in our backyard last weekend so I've had to walk Maddie a lot more than usual since we're trying to keep her off the lawn.

Looking Forward To:  Meeting our little guy!  I can't believe it's only 6-ish weeks away that we'll be parents and the anticipation is almost killing me.  I am SO looking forward to seeing Marc be a dad...it chokes me up just thinking about it.  He is just so sweet and gentle when he talks to my belly and I know he's just as anxious as I am to meet our son.

We are also going up to the cabin this weekend which will be our last time there just the two of us.  I'm going to take advantage of this by sleeping in as late as I want, taking a nice long hike, and pretty much just doing whatever we feel like.

Miss Anything:  Oh, just the usual - wine, sushi, and good beer.

Movement:  Yep.  Some days there's more movement than others, which I've read is normal, and it's mostly in the same places.  I pretty much always feel pressure up in my right side ribs, which is getting a little more painful each day.  It's just this dull aching that's relieved if I stretch out long and is pretty annoying.  Otherwise, it's just random kicks and wiggles that let me know he's awake.

What I’ve Been Loving:  We had our second baby shower last weekend which was thrown by our friends and it was a blast.  It was a coed shower so Marc was able to join in on the fun, and really it was just so great to be surrounded by our friends and the community we are bringing our baby into.  He doesn't know it yet, but Baby E is so lucky to have such an amazing group of people just waiting to love him.

We also finally got the nursery almost finished!  We still have a few finishing touches to do, but I feel great about it because if he were to be born today (please don't be born today), it would be ready for him.  I'll do a full nursery tour once it's all ready but for now you can check out Baby E's Instagram for a few pictures.

Maternity Clothes:  Yep.  I'm still wearing all of my non-maternity workout clothes, though Marc thought it was pretty humorous to watch me try to squeeze into my yoga pants the other day.  They just don't slide on like they used to...ha.

Boy or girl:  Boy!

Other random thoughts:

-I don't know what I would do without my Bump Nest Pregnancy Pillow .  Seriously it's been a lifesaver and makes sleeping so much more comfortable.

-I'm also now a firm believer in essential oils.  I used this one for my hip pain starting around 24 weeks and it's been so minimal ever since.  I now put it on every 2-3 days if/when I start to feel achy and it pretty much goes away.  Life changing.

-I'm pretty sure Maddie knows something is up in our house, and she's not too happy about it.  She's been kind of mopey and distant the past couple of weeks, along with a little sassy.  I've read dogs can smell hormone changes, but maybe I'm just reading into it too much.  She might just be sad like the rest of us because it's been rainy all week.  Who knows.  I do know, however she wants nothing to do with my bump.

  1. awwwww you and Marc are both gonna be such great parents--and yay for baby showers! Baby E IS def. very lucky!!

  2. You look so amazing, Taylor! And I know Maddie will be happy once the baby is here. Maybe it's just the unknown that's making her uneasy right now. That's crazy that the essential oils helped your hip pain too. I need to look into getting some, even if it's just to help me relax more!

  3. I definitely wonder how Emma will do once we have kids! She is a routine freak so we shall see!! haha
