Baby E Update: 22 Weeks

22 weeks!  Can you believe it?  This weekend we're in Hayward, Wisconsin for the Americna Birkebeiner Cross Country Ski Race, so I thought it'd be a good time to check in with a pregnancy update.  Have a great weekend!  Oh and p.s. the picture from above is at 21 weeks but I don't feel I look that much different and was feeling too lazy to take an updated picture this week.

How far along are you? 22 weeks.

Cravings:  Nothing too particular anymore.  I've been trying to sneak in more veggies throughout my day by snacking on carrots and hummus or making an extra batch of roasted veggies for lunch the next day.  I've also cut wayyyy back on the hot sauce the past couple of weeks because of that dang heartburn I've been having.

Food Aversions:  I made that Peanut Tofu Stir-Fry the other night which was SO good at the time but two seconds after finishing it, I couldn't bear the thought of ever eating it again.

Generally Feeling:  Pretty good!  My hip pain has been minimal the past couple of weeks, though it does act up sometimes after a workout.  With the exception of one day that I had some sort of stomach bug, I've had quite a bit of energy these past two weeks.  I guess it's true what they say about getting your energy back in the second trimester!

I've also been feeling a lot of stretching of the skin around my belly, which makes sense since it's been growing quite a bit lately, (though my belly button hasn't popped yet!).  I've been really diligent about moisturizing and I've been using Burt's Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter a couple of times a day to hopefully prevent stretch marks.  I also noticed the linea nigra starting yesterday, which happens in most pregnant women and will fade after pregnancy.

Another life saver has been my Bump Nest Pillow which I received as a Christmas present (thanks, mom!) and helps SO much with my hips at night.

Looking Forward To:  Getting more things done with the nursery.  We put up our crib and bought a storage thing (in a photo below) for diaper supplies, but right now I'm using it to store his tiny clothes, adorable stuffed animals, and growing book collection, until we get his dresser/changing table.  It's so fun to walk by his crib every day and see where his little precious body is going to be snuggling up!  On a side note - I just got teary eyed writing that sentence.  Hormones.

Miss Anything:  My regular clothes.  I took advantage of a crazy good sale at Macy's last weekend, so I finally feel like I have more options to wear to work, but I still miss having my entire wardrobe.  I also miss hot yoga and running without having to pee every 2 miles, but for now my prenatal yoga classes and short runs will have to do.

Movement:  Lots.  I've been able to feel him actually moving around, not just kicking, which just feels there's increased pressure around a certain part of my belly.  Marc has been able to feel him kick a few times too, though the past couple of nights I feel like the little boy who cried wolf because every time I feel a big kick and have Marc try to feel, he stops kicking.  I've also noticed a lot of kicking after eating, which makes me smile because I love the thought of him being in tune to things I'm doing, like eating.  If he's anything like his mom and dad, this kid is going to be a great eater 😉

What I’ve Been Loving:  Most of these I already mentioned but in short, I've been loving my Belly Butter, Bump Nest Pillow, new maternity clothes, prenatal yoga, clementines, good nights of sleep, and less hip pain than I had when writing my previous updates.  We'll see how long that lasts!

Maternity Clothes:  Yep, pretty much all the time.  I've still been wearing my regular workout clothes, though I just noticed this week my sports bras are getting even tighter and it feels like it's not just because I'm quite a bit bustier, but also because my rib cage feels bigger.  One of my other pregnant friends told me this would happen and I think it has started,.  Other than that, I'm 100% maternity pants and tops for work and still in my normal yoga pants and lounging tops for at home.

Boy or girl:  Boy!
