In case you missed it last week, I’m partnering with Kahlúa to create some yummy cocktails and recipes with their amazing line of coffee liqueurs. This week, I’m diving head first into their Mocha flavored Kahlúa.
I have found throughout the years that my preferences for my alcoholic beverage of choice changes with the seasons. While in the spring and summer I’m all about the crisp white wines, sangria, and mojitos, in the fall I crave red wine and dark beers. Then in the winter, you can find me bundled up on the couch under my super-soft blanket with my super-soft slippers on, drinking a big mug of hot chocolate with a (large) splash of whatever liqueur I’m fancying that day. I have a feeling that Kahlúa Mocha is what I’ll be spiking my hot cocoa with this winter. While original Kahlúa would work well in hot chocolate, the hints of vanilla and dark chocolate in the Mocha Kahlua pair perfectly with the hot chocolate.
This recipe for Mocha Kahlúa Hot Chocolate could not be easier. While you could use a packet of hot chocolate, I really think making it from scratch is the way to go. It’s just so easy! You prepare the hot chocolate by simply warming up some milk with good stuff like cocoa and sugar, then you finish off the cocktail by pouring a splash or two of Kahlúa Mocha (the REALLY good stuff) in and you’re ready to go. I can just picture this being my go-to night time treat this winter, but it would also be a delicious treat for any holiday party or after-dinner drink.
