Ever since registering for our wedding, I’ve been thinking about getting a juicer. However, someone-who-shall-remain-un-named, thought otherwise. Apparently, he/she thinks I have enough kitchen toys. To his/her credit, I do have a lot of kitchen appliances. But none of them are juicers. Just sayin’.
Trying to be a good wife/friend/family member/whatever-my-relationship to this juicer-hater, I kept a juicer off our registry. But then, a couple of months after the wedding juicers were on sale and I had the Registry Completion discount. So I used some gift cards and bought a juicer. But then I felt really bad and didn’t even want to tell the anti-juicer that I bought one so I convinced myself I didn’t need it and I took it back.
Fast forward to last weekend, and I still couldn’t stop thinking about how much I wanted a juicer. And juicers were on sale again. So I did it. I bought one. Then I promptly greeted the no-juicing-allowed-person who had just gotten home from an overnight shift with a big glass of citrus carrot juice. To his/her surprise, he/she loved it. So much so that he (okay, it’s Marc!) asked me to show him how to use it so he could make a big glass of juice before he went into work the next day. And then he told me I’m not allowed to buy anymore kitchen toys.
So get ready for some juice recipes! While this one is light on the veggies, I’m seriously giddy thinking about juicing celery, cucumbers, beets(!!!), kale, spinach, and every thing else that can possibly be juiced. This juice is very citrusy from the grapefruit and orange (which I unknowingly put in whole but just read you should probably peel them first), gets a bit of sweetness from the apple, and then is loaded with nutrients from the carrots. It’ll definitely get you going in the morning!
