Soren Miles: 6 Months

Soren 6 months

Ahhhh how is my baby boy 6 months already?!  I think it's been about 4 months since I did my last Soren update, so this is totally overdue.  With Lars I did updates at least every 2 months, but I guess that's just the life of the second child, right?

Soren continues to be the perfect addition to our family.  He's a laid back and incredibly happy baby who goes with the flow and does it with a smile on his face.  He also absolutely adores his big brother.  We were at the park the other day and he wouldn't take his eyes off Lars, just watching him run around and go down slides.  I truly think that no one can make Soren smile the way Lars does and it's been so much fun watching them become more interactive.  Lars has started saying "I want to play with Soren!" more often, and it's really fun now that Soren can kind of play back.

As far as developmental milestones, I haven't been keeping track of if he's "on track" or not, but I have no reason to think he's not.  He isn't quite as mobile as Lars was at this point but I can't say I'm bummed about that.  Soren can stay immobile as long as he wants!  He prefers being on his tummy (as you can tell from all of these photos!) and does get around by scooting and rolling.  Even though he isn't crawling yet, he's always (ALWAYS!!) kicking his legs when he's sitting in his chair and loves his activity center that he got from Nana for Christmas!

One area he's not excelling in is the sleep department.  He's still getting up 2-3 times per night which is making me one tired mama.  There have been some occasional nights where he only wakes up once but these are very few and very far in between.  He typically wakes up around 12:30/1 a.m. and then again around 4:30/5.  Most days he goes back to sleep until 6:30ish when he wakes up at 5 but there have been a few mornings lately where he's up and ready to play.

We started solids with him SUPER casually over the past month and pretty much every food we've tried has gotten a big thumbs down from Soren.  We've done sweet potatoes, peas, mango, applesauce, yogurt, broccoli, and carrots so far.  He KIND of liked peas and tolerated yogurt once but every other thing he has not been a fan of. I have actually kind of backed off the solids over the past week since he hasn't been a huge fan and am thinking of starting back up next week to see if maybe he's more ready.  I'm also thinking of maybe trying the baby led weaning approach, as I have some friends who have had good luck with it, but I need to do my research first.

I remember with Lars I was SO excited and antsy to start solids with him and with Soren it just seems like another thing to put on my to-do list.  Does that sound terrible?  It's just that it's more food to prep and more mess to clean up.  I'm hoping I get more excited about it once he actually starts enjoying the food.  His lack of interest is not motivating at all!

I think that's it for now!  For some reason I have the hardest time with these posts.  It seems like there are always a ton of things that I think about in the moment that I want to share with you all and when I sit down to write, I forget it all!  I guess the cute photos will make up for my lack of words 😉
