Baby E Update: 27 Weeks

Happy Saturday!  Time for another Baby E Update.  I missed the 26 week update but honestly, my pregnancy has been pretty uneventful so not much was missed.  We went on vacation for ten glorious days (see photo below) and now we're just patiently waiting for spring to arrive in Minnesota.  There's still not a lot to report on the pregnancy front but since it's been four weeks, I thought I'd better do an update anyways.

How far along are you? 27 Weeks.  True story - I thought I was going to be 28 weeks along up until today.  Pregnancy brain, anyone?

Cravings:  I've been crazy about fruit lately - strawberries, pineapple, oranges, grapes, you name it.  I'm also loving peanut butter on everything, and still macaroni and cheese from the box.

Food Aversions: Nada.

Generally Feeling: Pretty good!  I did have some strange cramping/sharp pains yesterday which were somewhat worrisome, but I'm feeling a lot better now.  They were likely Braxton Hicks contractions or just some round ligament pain.

I was able to get back into running while we were in Florida which was awesome but I felt SO slow.  I'm keeping it around 3-4 miles at a time, which right now feels like a half marathon.

I also found the cure for my hip pain - essential oils!  Since I wasn't able to bring my Bump Nest Pillow with me to Florida, I had quite a bit of hip pain the first couple of days.  When I mentioned it to Marc's mom, she let me try her Valor essential oil.  No joke - I didn't have any pain the rest of the trip.  Needless to say, I've invested in a couple different kinds of essential oils since we returned home.  On the heartburn front - still raging.

Looking Forward To: My glucose test next week.  Ha - kidding!  Not looking forward to that at all.  I am, however, really looking forward to spring weather, which can start annnnnnnytime, Mother Nature.  I'm sick of bulky sweaters and my winter boots.

Miss Anything: Wine. Still.  Also, sushi and a good IPA.

Movement: Lots and lots.  It was fun to hang out in a swimsuit all day on vacation and be able to see our little guys kicks actually move my stomach.  I also started playing him lullaby music (Spotify has some great stations!) at bedtime in hopes he will settle down his kicking so and associate that music with bedtime.  It's not easy to fall asleep when there's constant kicking going on in there!

What I’ve Been Loving:  The constant movement from the baby, getting back into running, and lots of birthday cake this week!  I also loved this post from The Balanced Life about body image and social expectations of women during pregnancy.  I've definitely had my share of moments of feeling bad about having dessert every night (someone's gotta eat that birthday cake!) or feeling like I'm gaining weight too quickly, and her post really reinforced my mindset of going into pregnancy with the goal to eating the most nutritious food for my baby most of the time, but also still enjoying these nine months to the fullest.

Maternity Clothes: Yep.

Boy or girl: Boy!

  1. Awwww everything is going so fast!! You look AMAZING--seriously...you're just belly. And I'm so glad that everything has been mostly good--and that the essential oils helped your hip pain!

  2. Congratulations on your pregnancy! You look beautiful! Those little baby twists and kicks are the best! 🙂

  3. You look great Tay! Love the beach bump pic! Great work on keeping up with running! I also found that I slowed down majorly, and the miles decreased. Any exercise is better than none, so keep it up, but make sure to listen to your body and don't over-do it!!

Also, the glucose test is not that bad at all. It tastes like super-concentrated orange Gatorade that used to be carbonated but has gone flat. Don't worry, it's no biggie. As a runner, you've probably tasted worse energy beverages before.

I felt a little nervous about drinking wine too, but every now and then during the 3rd trimester I would have a small 2 oz glass and enjoyed a few sips with a nice meal!

  4. Oh my goodness, this makes me miss being pregnant! I loved watching our babe wriggle around when we were on the beach last Summer, its such a cool feeling 🙂 Wish I had known about the essential oils, great tip! You look fab, and Taylor!

  5. You look so amazing, Taylor! Such a healthy mama!

And I'm shocked that you're able to run 3-4 miles. That feels like a marathon to me and I'm not even pregnant! lol
