Is anyone else in disbelief that tomorrow is Christmas? Aside from one Tupperware of cookies that was the victim of a hungry dog, all of the cookies are ready to be eaten, menu is set for Christmas dinner, and the presents have been wrapped which means we’re ready for Christmas! In case you’re wondering, here is our Christmas Menu:

Easy Cheesy Sausage Breakfast Casserole from Gimme Some Oven
Reindeer Chow from Brown Eyed Baker
Leftover Appetizers from Christmas Eve (mmm Deviled Eggs and Lil Smokies!)

I. Cannot. Wait!
And nowwwww, a fun announcement. (hint: read closely 😉 )
Yep! In case you didn’t catch it in the card- we’re expecting a baby in June!
I kind of struggled with how to share our fun news and what sort of recipe/post to pair it with. Making buns would be a little too cliche to say I have a bun in the oven but I couldn’t just throw it into any ‘ol post. Now that it’s time to finally make this huge and exciting announcement AND it’s the week of Christmas which is such a magical week, it just seemed like a good Christmas post.
I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to incorporate the baby into the blog and am strugglign between a) not at all b) a separate page/tab on greens & chocolate for baby updates or c) just have it all here on the main page, leaving it up to you skip it or read it. BUUUUT since it’s the big announcement post and I’m taking the rest of the week off from the blog for family time, I figured I’d do one of those fun Q&A’s about the pregnancy so far. So here goes!
How far along are you? 13 weeks and 5 days, due at the end of June 2015
Cravings? Meat and cheese. Which is really weird because I’ve never been one to crave a ton of meat or savory things. But lately I’ve been all about the burgers and steak, along with string cheese. Other cravings I’ve had in the past few months include chips (especially salt and vinegar), oranges, Chinese food, eggs, and hash browns. As someone who is usually all about the sweets, this is really not normal for me, but I’m just going with it!
Weight Gain: ~5 lbs the last time I was at the doctor. Probably more now since it’s been a couple of weeks.
Fears: Getting the flu. It’s been going around like crazy here and I am so afraid of catching it. Since I work in health care and touch/am in close contact with multiple people a day, I’ve been washing my hands like crazy.
Generally Feeling: Great! I didn’t really have any morning sickness during the first trimester, but I did have some pretty crazy fatigue. I had no idea I could physically feel that tired. Especially after working for 10 hours on my feet, it was all I could to drive home and plop myself on the couch. I also went through a stretch of hormonal craziness which just wasn’t pretty. The past week, however, I’ve been feeling a lot more energized and more level headed.
Looking Forward To: Actually looking pregnant and not just like I’ve been eating too many Christmas cookies 😉
What I’ve Been Loving: It’s been so much fun telling people our exciting news. Our families have known for awhile now, but we made the announcement on our Christmas cards and I love not having it a secret anymore.
Maternity Clothes? It’s still early but I did buy a couple pairs of maternity pants for work and am in love with them. I don’t technically need them right now and have been using the hair tie trick but I mean, dress pants with a stretchy waist?! I might wear them forever.
Boy or Girl: Not telling yet. Even though I’m only 13 1/2 weeks along, we actually found out the gender through a newer prenatal screen that is a blood test. We are still surprising our parents and close friends with the gender so I’ll wait a few more weeks until I dish here.
And that’s it! Everything you never wanted to know about my pregnant life, so far. But back to the important things.
Finally, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I appreciate every single one of you who visits greens & chocolate on a regular basis and wish I could give you each a big hug for Christmas. And a plate of cookies. I hope you enjoy the holidays with friends and family, and eat lots of yummy food. xoxo
