I thought I would sneak in one last holiday recipe before calling it quits for the year. I’m sure lots of you are entertaining through the end of the year and having fabulous New Years Eve parties, right?!
Today’s recipe is one that is incredibly easy, requires no cooking, and leans towards the healthy side of holiday foods. I started with dates which I confess, used to totally gross me out because they reminded me of cockroaches but after trying them stuffed with cheese and wrapped with bacon, I didn’t care that I felt like I was eating an insect. Their sweet and soft ways won me over. Now I’m date crazy and put them in my homemade Lara Bars, in my smoothies, and even chopped up on salads.
For this couldn’t-be-easier holiday appetizer, I combined my favorite GO Veggie! Plain Cream Cheese with a drizzle of honey and a handful of finely chopped walnuts to stuff inside the dates. Finished off with another drizzle of honey and these bad boys were ready to be served. Not only are these refined sugar free but also dairy-free since I used the GO Veggie! Cream Cheese. This also makes it lower in calories, fat and saturated fat, so you can snack your little heart away right through the new year.
I absolutely loved the honey-sweetened cream cheese and the addition of walnuts for a contrast of crunchy among the soft and chewy dates was perfect. These honey and walnut cream cheese stuffed dates are exactly what your party needs!
