We close on our house today and I’m so excited (cue song and dance) I could barely sleep the past two nights. We were able to see our house for our final walk-through on Saturday and with the sellers furniture and belongings out of the house, I couldn’t help but think of how ours will fill it, along with all of the memories we will be making in that house. I pictured us sitting on our patio, grilling out and enjoying some cocktails, Marc becoming a handyman working out in the garage, our first Christmas tree in the front window, drinking my morning coffee at the kitchen table, Thanksgiving dinners with our family, bringing home our first baby through the front door, movie nights in our finished basement, and of course, all of the meals that will be cooked in our kitchen.
Growing up, no matter how busy our schedules were, I remember always sitting down to eat dinner as a family. Whether it was Hamburger Helper, my dads kielbasa and cabbage, or even take-out Chinese, my parents always had us sit down together for dinner. Thinking of the traditions I want to start as a family, I know that having a family meal every night will be one that I carry on.
It seems like in today’s world, families are busier than ever and having the time to get a hot meal ready and on the table gets harder and harder. Especially one that everyone will enjoy. Today I’m teaming up with GE Appliances to bring you a 30 minute dinner that will please everyone at your dinner table and make those weeknight dinners a little bit easier. And what better Minnesotan family dinner than a tater tot hot dish? I’ve actually never made a tater tot hot dish and since I’ve been living in Minnesota for 3 years now, I figured it was time to make it.
As Marc and I sat down to eat dinner that night, I realized just how perfect a dish this is to make for your family. The ground beef and veggie mixture is creamy and comforting, and topped with tater tots, how could a kid not like it?! It pleases adults and kids alike.
The traditional tater tot hot dish recipe calls for condensed soup, but I try to stay away from those as they’re loaded with sodium and I wanted to make it from scratch. Plus, it truly is not much more time consuming or difficult than opening a can of condensed soup…I promise! In fact, this whole meal can be made in 30 minutes..no joke.
To make weeknight dinners even easier, GE has a new line of appliances. First, there’s the Hands-Free Auto Refill Refrigerator which fills up your water glasses hands-free – perfect for when you need to multitask. The Double Oven Range with a Tri Ring Burner is great for not only baking two dishes at one time, but also getting the heat exactly how you want it, from the lowest simmer to the highest sear. Finally, with GE’s Dishwasher with 102 Jet Wash System, cleanup is a breeze. Check them all out in action here, including the new bottle washing feature on the dishwasher.
Weeknight dinners should be quick and easy for any busy family. GE Appliances can help streamline the kitchen process with their hands-free auto-fill refrigerator, their double oven range, to their 102 jet wash system dishwasher.
