creamy avocado dip

I was planning to make hummus last week because I was really craving a creamy dip to snack on.  Upon further investigation into my craving, I came to the conclusion that I also wanted my creamy dip to include avocado.  I didn't think avocado in hummus would be the best combination (though I found a few recipes online), yet I didn't want to make guacamole.  I decided to just stick with the avocado idea but wasn't sure how I would make the dip creamy.  While I could have used sour cream or cream cheese, I didn't really want to eat a days worth of calories in the form of chips and dip.
That's when I remembered Greek Yogurt.  Have you seen the nutritional stats on the stuff?  In one 8 oz container of 0% Fage Greek Yogurt there are: 120 calories, 0 grams of fat, and 20 grams of protein.  TWENTY!  That's crazy.
The avocado and greek yogurt made this dip so incredibly creamy and I threw in some chopped roma tomatoes for just a tiny bit of chunkiness.  Add in some red onion, little bit of cumin, tons of cilantro and folks, we've got some dip!  It was a fun alternative to guacamole and hummus, and still satisfied my hummus/avocado craving!

Creamy Avocado Dip

16 oz. 0% Fage Greek Yogurt
2 avocados, cut into chunks
1/4 large red onion, chopped
4 roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
3-4 tbsp cilantro, chopped
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp kosher salt

Directions:

In large food processor, blender, or large bowl using an emulsion blender, puree the greek yogurt, avocados, cumin, and salt.  Add the onion and cilantro pulse a couple of times.  Pour/scrape into a large bowl and add diced tomatoes.  Serve in a colorful(optional) bowl with tortilla chips.
